The Belmont Lake Fire Route 25 Road Association aims to ensure that everyone enjoys easy access to their properties while maintaining safety and year-round accessibility for emergency services.
The Belmont Lake Fire Route 25 Road Association was formed in the Spring of 2025 when every property owner on Fire Route 25 was invited to join a road committee to help oversee maintenance and upkeep of the fire road. An initial group of 15 families from the road came together to understand the issues the road was facing and provide direction to begin to address these challenges. Today, membership on this Road Committee remains open to all members of the Belmont Lake Fire Route 25 Road Association.
The members of the Fire Route 25 Road Committee volunteered their time and energy, with nothing more to gain than a safe, well maintained road. With the goal of building an enduring organization that will transparently and effectively oversee maintenance and upkeep of the road, the result of this work was the establishment of the Belmont Lake Fire Route 25 Road Association.

A great deal of the structure and organization of the association comes from the advice and guidance of the Federation of Ontario Cottagers Association (FOCA), which provides membership and support for hundreds of similar road associations across the province. In addition to providing discounts on insurance premiums to member associations, FOCA provides access to extremely valuable benchmarking information from similar road associations, case studies and sample documents/by-laws, updates on relevant legislative changes, access to a legal helpline and a toolkit of resources for the association.
